Contest - Get a FREE copy of the Blawg for Profit course
As most of our readers know, Grant and I are launching our Blawg for Profit program Monday, October 15, 2007. Blawg for Profit is the culmination of six months work that Grant and I have put in together trying to create a product that helps solo and small firm lawyer obtain the benefits of blogging that we each have. Through Blawg for Profit, we will be offering a turnkey, custom Wordpress blog, as well as a “do it yourself” course that walks you through the process step by step.
On Friday, October 12, we are celebrating that launch with a Pre-Launch Party by teleconference call at 3:00 pm Eastern (call details to come - but save the date now!). All solo and small firm lawyers are invited, and on the call we will be sharing some practical, valuable advice on how to effectively blawg for profit.
Also, on the call, to celebrate the release, we will be awarding one lucky winner a free copy of the Blawg for Profit course. The course consists of 4 audio CD’s, 2 DVDs, a Workbook, and several other goodies all of which are designed to make you a more effective blogger.
To qualify for the drawing that will take place during the call, here is what you have to do:
Go the the comment section of this post, and enter a comment stating why you would like the program, and how you think it would benefit your practice. That’s it. Then be on the call to see if your name is the entry that gets selected for the course.
Make sure your comment is posted by midnight Thursday, October 11 to be considered. And, remember to leave your e-mail so we know how to contact you about receiving the prize if you are the winner.
Everyone on the call will receive some valuable information about blogging to attract clients, and each person on the call will also get a special gift just for being a part of our Party. So, don’t miss out.

I would like the program because I’ve been waiting with bated breath for it to be launched, and because I need a user-friendly product that I can keep up with in my busy solo practice. I believe it will be the most cost effective and farthest reaching marketing tool I can use. Also, like everyone else, I could use the money saved on other bills.

Love the contest idea. I want the program, because I have seen other lawyers who are getting a lot of clients from blogging, and I’m hoping, like Jim, that getting the course will get me blogging. Truthfully though, I think I’m just going to get one of the custom blogs (depending on the price - have you guys published the pricing info yet?). But, hey, free is free, so I’ll be on the call!

Finally got the initial set up of my blog www.stoppingdeportation.com done. Now that the inertia has been overcome and I’ve taken action I need a lot of guidance for the next step. Not because there isn’t enough information available but rather because there’s too much information available. I need a resource that has already sifted through and tested everything.

I would like the program because blogging will help me attract the clients I want as well as force me to stay on top of developments in my practice area.
October 7th, 2007 | #
I would make great use of the program as a Blawg would be a natural compliment to my growing practice. I have no idea where to start and am certain that the program will guide me in the right direction. Thanks!

Your program was mentioned this week at the GP Solo meeting and I am looking forward to blogging in an effort to attract a wider client base.

I pretty sure all solo and small firms will be able to take advantage of our health benefit offerings. Thank you.

Grant’s Kansas Family & Divorce Lawyer blog was the inspiration for my California Divorce Blawg. Now I want the course to continue that inspiration, and to make my blog better and better!

Howdy y’all,
I need the program the most because I get to deal with a potential client base that speaks both Spanish and English. That means that I have to translate everything, which is twice the blogging!
Saludos a todos,
Yo necesito ese curso más porque tengo que lididar con una base de clientes potenciales que habla tanto español como inglés. Eso significa que tengo que traducirlo todo, lo cual es el doble del “blogging”.

I would be remiss if I didn’t encourage the 5 people who read this blog regularly (or at least, who still have it active on their RSS reader) to navigate here and register for the free teleconference being held by…

I would like to win the course as I am a new lawyer (less than a year since being sworn in) and I’ve started a blog on divorce in Georgia. I’m always compelled to try to do my best and your course would help me get there!
October 8th, 2007 | #
I would like to win your course because I need all the help I can get. I am a “non-traditional” 2L student. My wife and I have six, (yes 6) children (all ours) at home. I work full-time during the week and attend law school all day on the weekends. I plan on being a solo practitioner, and I believe this course could provide me and my family with the extra “boost” needed to launch my career.

Don’t forget everyone to make sure you leave your email addresses. We can’t notify you if you don’t. If you would rather not leave your email address in the comment, drop me or Michael an email with your email address.

I am interested in the course because I have two blogs–one in divorce law, which I’ve practiced for over 15 years, and the other is a brand new practice area for me, trade secrets law. I’ve handled a few trade secrets cases, but noticed that no one in Indiana seems to position himself or herself as an expert in the field, so I think this is an area that is ripe for development. And, since I enjoy those types of cases, I think it is a perfect match. I’d like to use the blog to build my reputation and attract clients, so the course would be very helpful to make sure I don’t repeat the mistakes made in my divorce law blog.
From the comments I’ve seen already, it appears there are many worthy applicants. In fact, as I think about it, I would prefer to see the prize go to someone who is just starting out. I’ll withdraw my self-nomination.
Good luck to all!

I want the program so that I can make my name known in the area as a bankruptcy authority. And echoing other comments, it will also get me off my dead ass to start blogging.

I am a newly practicing solo attorney, and in desperate need of all the help I can get. Very tech savvy, but scared to death!

I want in on the contest! I’ve been exploring blogging for about six months now. I’ve created three blogs on different issues using Wordpress(on my development server only) with mediocre results. Started reading Grant and Michael’s other blogs about a month ago along with a number of other writers on marketing and solo practice. I need a jumpstart into the blogging world. I came out of Big Law three years ago (at 54) and into solo practice. I love it but need the tools to develop a new solo practice niche for the long term. I have a 17-year-old college freshman and an 11-year-old sixth grader, both with dreams of becoming doctors, so I don’t expect to retire until my mid-70s, if ever. Blogging as a way of marketing, client education and networking seems a natural fit for an old guy like me.

Worked in a print shop for 15 years. The power of properly disseminating info is immeasurable.
Times have changed, print media is going out electronic is it for most cases. Problem is I know more about running a printing press than I do about writing a blawg.
So after deciding to hang my own shingle I think this program could allow me to better access a international client base.
Cheers,

I would like to win the course because I am determined to make my law office a success. I was born and raised in a very negative environment and was told on a constant basis that I would amount to nothing. My son and I have sacrificed for more than seven years for me to get to this point in my career. To date, God has not let me fail and I have proved the critics wrong. This course will help ensure that this part of my journey will be a success.
Thank you for considering me for this awesome prize.
Sincerely,

I am fascinated with the Blog for Profit series and believe in it’s virtue. I am not, however, technically inclined or creative, so I am hoping the course will cure both deficiencies for me! I am a fairly recent convert to Macs (great job Grant) and this concept fits with where I want my practice to be moving. Thanks for all the great info.

I would like the program because I need to expand my blogging to encompass more of a practice area blog. I believe this will help me in that endeavor.
October 9th, 2007 | #
I have been waiting for this ever since Grant talked to me about it. I made the decision to not sign with someone else because of it. And who better to follow the footsteps of than the master of blogging - Grant (no offense Michael). If I win the prize - terrific, if not, I still win because of Grant’s willingness to share and help out fellow attorneys. Thanks gentlemen!

I’m ready to jump into the blogging world and am intrigued by Blawg for Profit. I’m in the process now of getting my blog up and could use all the help and suggestions I can get. The BfP program will help me shorten the learning curve in creating a blog that achieves my goals. Can’t wait to see the finished product!!
October 9th, 2007 | #
Oh, me me me. As you can see, I’m an interested blogger that lacks the skills to take it to the next level. Given my lack of financial resources, I’m committed to using the Internet to catapult my practice and I want help from the best.

No, pick me! Pick me!
While still in school, I’m trying to help as many solos increase their incomes as I can; both my friends and those who are allowing me to clerk for them. I’ve got quite the internet background, and want to be of service to as many people as possible. Plus, I’m a cheap and poor student

With the increase in yellow page advertisement, I am looking for alternatives to attract clients. It seems like this is a cost effective way of attracting quality clients. I look forward to learning more. Thank you.

My blawg is going to be on the subject of law for the non-profit manager with a large component geared towards performing arts non-profits. Every few days I will post on a legal issue that faces non-profits, talk about the issues and post anxiety reducing suggestions on how to find free legal advice to address the issues (pro bono lawyers) or low cost legal advice (ME through my virtual in-house counsel services for non-profits). The blog will help non-profit managers identify and manage legal risk. I already have the Columbia Univeristy Arts Administration program notified about my upcoming blog and will regularly interface with my former professor there to get topic ideas - we are both in touch with arts management alumni from Columbia. I would love your help to get this exciting blawg going! kathleen aguilar. kathleen@virtualartslaw.com

This looks to be a great opportunity. I’ve been struggling, first with marketing generally, then specifically marketing on the web. I have two blogs with essentially no traffic. I’m eager to hear what you have to say.
Best regards,

I need the course because I need my blawg to start returning a PROFIT.
My blawg launched on April 30, has grown steadily in readership, earned some nice comments and links from better-known bloggers, and sharpened my writing skills.
But the only potential clients it has attracted are those without money! My practice in appeals, writs and business litigation is not a contingency-friendly practice.
Accolades are nice, and blogging is fun, but I need to attract paying clients or, more accurately probably, get trial lawyers reading my blog and sending me their paying clients for the appeal.
In other words, I need to know how to blawg for PROFIT.
Did I mention I’m looking to PROFIT?

I really like the idea for the contest. (I’d like it much better if I won.) We’ve had a lot of success with our static website and we’re looking to add a blog to it. I can’t think of a better way to get started than with a shiny new copy of the Blawg for Profit course.

I am a VERY recent grad, who just found out that I did in fact pass the bar exam. I am going solo right out of the gate, and expect that blogging will be an important part of my marketing efforts. How to make blogging work for me is a mystery, and I am in the dark aout the technical aspects of blogging. I want this course, I need this course, and those that might be subject to my blog want me to have this course.
October 11th, 2007 | #
I haven’t started my own practice; heck, I haven’t even started practicing law (will take the bar in Feb), but I have started a blog, I love to write, and I do want my own practice. Why not learn how to get paid for doing something you love, especially if it’s about doing something else you’ll love?
